Battery equalizers are used in series-connected battery packs to maintain voltage balance during charging or discharging. When batteries operate in series, voltage inconsistencies may arise due to variations in chemical composition and temperature among individual cells. Additionally, each battery cell exhibits varying self-discharge rates. Consequently, even when idle, voltage deviations occur within the series battery pack. These discrepancies lead to battery imbalance—where one cell may become overcharged while another remains undercharged. With repeated charge-discharge cycles, voltage differences progressively widen, ultimately causing premature battery failure.
This equalizer employs energy transfer balancing technology to bidirectionally compensate battery voltages. It automatically activates when the voltage difference between two cells reaches 10mV, directing current from the higher-voltage side to the lower-voltage side until equilibrium is achieved. It can remain continuously connected to the battery system 24/7, automatically maintaining energy balance without manual intervention.
This equalizer is suitable for lead-acid batteries (VRLA), lithium iron phosphate batteries (LFP), nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries (Ni/CD), and nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries (Ni/MH). It activates when voltage exceeds 2.4V, meaning it can be applied to single-cell voltage ranges from 2.4V to 12V.
